Over 350 NQTs have successfully met the standards through our effective Induction programme and have benefitted from a full programme of twilights, Teachmeets and conferences to support their Induction.
Welcome by Kate Mayglothling – Hereteach Appropriate Body
I am delighted to welcome you to one of the most challenging but rewarding years of your career!
This is a very exciting and challenging time for you professionally and personally. Teaching is an extremely rewarding career as every day brings new challenges but equally, an energy and vitality from the children and pupils that you encounter.
As teachers, our aim is to provide children and young people with an outstanding and inspiring education that will nurture them into adulthood. You are a key part of that journey.
As the Appropriate Body we provide a programme of events to support you. It is a full programme that provides vital information, training and allows time for reflection on your practice and professional development. There is also ample opportunity for you to share stories, experiences, concerns and highlights during a life-changing year.
On registration your school pays for the support and programme put in place. The expectation is that as an NQT you attend the wide-ranging twilight sessions, Teachmeets and conferences to maximise your Induction.
It is not always obvious that there is a large team of support in the background. One of the many interesting things about teaching is how lonely it can feel in a classroom full of other people. Your Mentor or Induction Tutor is usually the first person to help on a day-to-day basis. Please make the most of their wisdom and knowledge. Other staff in your school will also provide a vast amount of advice and top tips. Kate Mayglothling and Lorna Philip are responsible for the programme and will be on hand to help with any queries, advice or contacts. There is also a network of schools around you and many NQTs in other Herefordshire schools would like to organise reciprocal visits and share their experiences with you.
NQTs are the future of education. Our 2015-2016 programme offers high quality and challenging twilights as well as two full day conferences which allow for critical reflection of the key issues and the development of specialist skills.
The NQT programme this year is building on the success of a series of twilights focusing on the issues and challenges facing anyone new to the profession.
The programme is funded by the NQT contract between schools and Hereteach Alliance enabling us to put on the twilights and the June conference for free.No Events
