The Hereteach Alliance is a group of schools which collaborate with the designated Teaching School which is Wigmore High School. The Hereteach Alliance share the key areas of responsibility, playing to our strengths and capacity.
Teaching School Alliances are part of the government’s drive to give schools more responsibility for managing the school-led system. They play a key role in building a robust, exciting and collaborative network to improve outcomes for pupils and develop sustainable future leadership.
Headteachers increasingly see this network as a way of developing opportunities for their own staff while retaining those teachers’ expertise and experience within their own schools. It is also a way of Headteachers accessing funding by running courses on their school site, promoting their teachers as SLEs or receiving bursaries from the Science Learning Partnership or the Mathshub.
What is the Hereteach Alliance providing?
The Hereteach Alliance has developed a key role across the West Midlands for recruiting teachers into the profession and developing their skills and expertise through their early years, into middle leadership and then on the Headship. We focus on the following key areas:
ITT recruitment and NQT development
Our dynamic School Direct partnership of secondary, special and sixth form schools is successfully recruiting to shortage subjects and as an Appropriate Body, for a number of years we have supported hundreds of NQTs and their mentors, making a significant impact on teaching and learning in our schools.
Middle leadership development
We have a diverse and experienced team of NLEs, Headteachers, SLEs, teachers and support staff working collaboratively, who know what the job entails and the keys to success, to provide high levels of support and high quality training throughout a career in education. We share expertise to develop programmes for technicians to new Headteachers which have impact on the lives and learning of the children and young people in our schools.
SLEs (Specialist Leaders in Education)
Through our SLE training programme we are developing sustainable leadership within schools which has been cited in several Ofsted and Pupil Premium reports as having a significant impact on the progress of pupils.
CPD training and development
Through our role as the Science Learning Partnership and the Herefordshire and Salop Mathshub we are instrumental in delivering outstanding Maths and Science training at subsidised rates. Our exciting new subject networks will ensure all teachers can access high quality training and share expertise on curriculum development.
